Apple unveiled a new MacBook Air and 13-inch MacBook Pro equipped with a semiconductor chip 'M2' developed by Apple.

Apple held the 'World Developers Conference (WWDC) 2022' at Apple Park in Cupertino, California, USA on the 6th (local time) and introduced new products such as MacBook Air and MacBook Pro equipped with M2 chip and new operating system for iPhone, 'iOS (iOS) 16', etc. introduced

The M2 chip, unveiled this time, consists of 20 billion transistors, 25% more than the previous M1 chip. This has resulted in increased efficiency and speed. Apple announced that the central processing unit (CPU) and graphics processing unit (GPU) performance of the M2 chip was up to 18% and 35% higher, respectively, compared to the M1.

The MacBook Air and MacBook Pro 13-inch models equipped with the M2 chip will be released worldwide in July. The M2 chip will be applied sequentially to the existing 14/16-inch MacBook Pro models with M1 chip, Mac mini, and iMac. Earlier, in 2020, Apple first released the MacBook Air equipped with its own developed chip M1 to reduce its dependence on Intel semiconductors.

As the m2 chip is announced, the price of m1 chip products is rising. This may be due to inflation, but the prices of used goods are also rising. There is also an analysis that the demand for m1 has increased, perhaps because the performance of the m2 chip did not meet the previously expected part. In Korea, used m1 prices rose by 10% to 20%.
