The pioneer of compact cameras was German Rollei. The Rollei 35, which appeared in 1966, was a really small 35mm full frame camera. The Rollei 35 presented a new paradigm of compact cameras.
Shortly thereafter, in 1974, Germany's Minox developed the Minox 35mm series to counter the Rollei 35. The first camera was the MINOX EL. Like that of the Rollei 35, it was a collapsible type camera, but Minox was made to protect the lens by making a front cover in conjunction with a collapsible lens.
From 1974 to 2003, Minox produced 30 types of 35mm film cameras.
There are countless special editions out there, and my MINOX TOURING is a clone of Minox 35 MB, a limited edition of 3333 worldwide released in 1990.
